Using Sections

You can use sections to display additional content, a slider, grid or locations to any page. This is ideal if you want to use content on more than one page, without having to manually replicate it. We’ve used the sections extensively in our demo to showcase the various ways you can display your services and projects. If you’ve not seen the demo, then we’d advising taking a look at http://milton.redfactory.nl/ so you can see the various layouts and to help you choose which of the options below you’d like to use on your site.

Adding a new section

To setup a new section, simply go to the Wp-admin area, hit the Sections tab and click “add new”. Enter a title for your new and then scroll down to the “Milton section options” panel. From the drop down select the “Section type”: Plain content, slider, grid or locations depending on what you’d like to add to your section. Depending on your choice of section type, different options will appear in the options panel below, these are detailed below for each section type.

Content

Once you’ve added your chosen content to the WP-editor scroll down and you’ll see the section settings. Here you can use the dropdowns to select the section colours text (light/dark from the options set within the theme settings -> font styles panel), choose a page to link your section to, set a background colour for the section using a colour picker, or hide/display the section title.

Adding Sections to a Page

The best things about sections is that you can use them to add additional content to a page, this makes them great for content that you’d want to use on more than one page. Instead of replicating the layout on every page, simply use a section instead.

So how do you add a section to a page? Well, it’s easy. On each page you create in the wp-admin area, scroll down and just under the text editor box you’ll see an area with two drag and drop list boxes. On the top you have ‘sections to display’ and beneath it, ‘All sections’.

To add your section, simply locate it in the ‘All sections’ box, drag and drop it into the ‘Sections to display’ area and then save. You can add multiple sections to a page, and drag and drop them into the desired order within the ‘Sections to display’ box. Simple!

Note: If you’ve not created your section yet, you can use the buttons on top of the “Sections to display” area to create a new section, either plain, slider, grid or location – directly on the page, saving you the need to keep jumping from one window to another.
